Hello, I'm James Rovira. I've been publishing and writing poetry, fiction, scripts, and non-fiction since the late 1980s with seven books out plus a number of other publications. I joined Stage 32 in 2019, I think, when I started work on a graphic novel script that I hoped could be produced into a feature film. I got caught up in many other projects that paid more quickly at the time, but now I've returned to the script and have just completed it, so I'm becoming active on Stage 32 again.
This work is titled Paradise Lost after John Milton's grand epic poem, and its first iteration will be a feature film script with a graphic novel script following. I'm open to the idea of television and video game development as well: graphic novel chapters lend themselves well to rewriting as individual television episodes. It's an epic family drama, a steampunk, off-world western in which a family seeks to escape their technofascist home planet to settle on an undeveloped world but then become the monsters they sought to escape.
I've been working on pitch material with an artist who formerly worked with David Bowie, which to begin with will include a brochure that I will be posting here by next week.
I've been interacting a little bit and really love this community. Thank you for being here.
