Sing Sing Producers talk disruption with pay equity

As far back as Charlie Chaplin and his cohorts creating United Artists, filmmakers have tested the waters with how to bring the creative team into the business side, or at least give them a more equitable share of the pie. More recently, Affleck and Damon have expanded the oft-touted Blumhouse model. Well, the lovely team behind SING SING took that model a lot further and actually paid everyone from PA to top of the call sheet the same rate. There were several articles out on this a few months back, but I just stumbled across an in-depth panel they did for the Dolby Creator podcast.

For me, it's very affirming of a portion of the business model I outlined in the book I wrote last year during the strikes. I couldn't be happier that more and more people are breaking the tried and tired model. It's thinking like this that will take the industry back from the doldrums of Legacy Studios, Streamers and Wall Street.

This is an incredible model, Laurie Ashbourne! Everyone puts time and effort into making a movie. I think they all deserve a piece of the profits based on what they did on the project. Glad to hear this model is already being used, and I hope more producers and companies use the model! This is a must-watch video for producers, investors, creatives, crew, and everyone in the industry. Thanks for sharing it!
