The BFI’s UK Global Screen Fund is now accepting applications for its International Co-Production Strand, offering up to £300K in non-recoupable funding for UK producers partnering with international creatives.
Perfect for fiction, animation, or docs with global reach, this fund supports projects with confirmed financing and strong cross-border appeal.
So I’m asking: Is your story ready to cross borders, and do you have the right UK partner to make it happen?
Rolling submissions close Feb 28, 2026.

That's great, Sandra Isabel Correia! Some of my stories are ready to cross borders. I write with international audiences in mind, and some of my stories that take place in the U.S. can be adapted for other countries.

Sandra that's really interesting! I wish I were eligible. This sounds exactly like the kind of fund that would fit my project. Are there any similar initiatives for an Israeli screenwriter (me) with a dystopian thriller TV pilot (my "Palette Theory")? It’s globally adaptable, with themes that could easily translate to a UK or international setting. If any of you here know of any other opportunities, or would be open to collaborating on future co-pro projects, I'd love to connect.

Hi Liron Vardi, Thanks for sharing, Lorin! “Palette Theory” sounds like it’s already speaking an international language, dystopian thrillers with adaptable themes are ripe for co-pro potential.
A few thoughts that might help you move forward:
• UK Partner First: For the UK Global Screen Fund, the key is securing a UK producer early. Look for someone with co-pro experience and a track record in genre TV, especially those open to bold, high-concept narratives.
• Festival Strategy: Consider submitting to UK-based development labs or genre-focused festivals like Series Mania or C21 Drama Series Pitch. They often attract producers scouting for international collaborations.
• Funding Ecosystem: Israel has strong support through the Israel Film Fund and Gesher Multicultural Film Fund. Pairing one of those with a UK partner could strengthen your application.
• Co-Pro Readiness: Make sure your pitch materials highlight the story’s cross-border appeal, universal themes, adaptable settings, and cultural resonance.
If you’re ever exploring co-producers or platforms, I’d recommend keeping an eye on Stage 32’s pitch sessions here:

Wishing you momentum and the right match to bring “Palette Theory” to life.

What about some like me from Africa(Nigeria) what do you think?

Great question, Chizuru Prince :)) I’m so glad you’re thinking globally. There’s incredible storytelling talent coming out of Nigeria, and projects with international appeal absolutely deserve a seat at the co-pro table. A few things to consider:
Regional Leverage: Look into the Nigerian Film Corporation and Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF)—they often spotlight projects with co-pro potential and global reach.
Pan-African Platforms: Initiatives like the Durban FilmMart and the Realness Institute (in partnership with Netflix) support African creators with global ambitions. They’re great for building networks and refining pitch materials.
And make sure your materials, pitch deck, pilot script, and visual references clearly show how your story travels across borders while staying rooted in your voice. Keep building, keep connecting. Your story matters, and the world is listening.
