Hey everyone, I’ve been sitting on this idea for a while and decided to finally share it here. It’s not a pitch, not a logline – just a raw thought that’s been living rent-free in my brain.
What if…
A boy from a poor family, bullied at school and ignored by most, finds an old robot in a junkyard. He fixes it – because that’s what he does. He collects broken things and makes them work again.
But this robot isn’t like the others. It remembers. Its past owners were cruel. It learned how humans act – and slowly, with the boy’s help, it starts understanding emotions.
The two become friends.
But something strange happens.
The robot starts... falling in love.
Not in a flashy “I want to marry you” way. But in a quiet, awkward, mechanical way – bringing flowers. Repeating quotes from romantic movies. Trying to understand why he feels warm when the boy smiles.
Meanwhile, the boy? He just wanted a friend. Someone who wouldn’t judge him. He never expected to become the object of a machine’s affection.
It’s a one-sided love. Maybe tragic. Maybe beautiful.
Still not sure if it ends with heartbreak or hope.
But the core is clear:
“Even a machine can learn to love – even if it’s not loved back.”
Would love to hear what you think.
Is this something you’d want to read/watch?
Or maybe you’ve seen similar stories done well?
Hello! I think it's strange. I don't know if I would want to watch it, but you can certainly write a script, and maybe someone will be interested.
You have to understand that men like real women. So I think you should make the main character a girl. Girls like inanimate objects, and they will understand the plot better.
Thanks for your thoughts! I know the concept is unusual, but that’s kind of the point – I like exploring the weird, emotional connections that don’t always fit into traditional boxes.
As for the main character, I intentionally chose a boy because the story plays with loneliness, masculinity, and what it means to feel seen – and I think there’s space for more vulnerable male characters in fiction.
But I totally get that it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I appreciate you taking the time to read it and share your opinion!
