I’ve been playing around with a story idea and wanted to share it here to see what others think.
A teenage boy inherits an old printer after his uncle's death. At first, it’s just a quirky piece of tech. But then, every night at exactly midnight… it starts printing out images.
At first they’re harmless – ordinary moments that actually come true the next day.
But soon the prints turn darker: blood, shadows, graveyards. The boy tries to ignore them – until one print shows him holding a knife, his hands stained red.
The twist? When he investigates the past, he finds out… his uncle didn’t die. He vanished.
I’m thinking of this as a short-format series – part psychological thriller, part mystery, with a slow-burn, creepy vibe. Kind of Black Mirror meets Donnie Darko. Maybe even Welcome to the NHK if it was horror

A clear premise that is chilling and feels plausible, the lurking open channel of an everyday piece of tech we rely upon, imbued with that predictive power.
Seems like a powerful subversive concept and a superb launch point for an unpredictable story!

I like the concept, Elyen Noir! You could write the dark version (part Psychological Thriller, part Mystery, with a slow-burn, creepy vibe) or a Comedy version.

Thanks a lot! I’m all about that creepy slow-burn vibe – but now I kinda wanna try the comedy version too. Love the idea, appreciate it!
