As we have brought up the question of the future of AI in theater, I thought I'd post this for your comments. It provides a film reputedly written and directed by AI: https://nofilmschool.com/2022/12/filmmakers-use-ai-write-and-direct-shor...

Fascinating. Something we should all keep tracking. I imagine that there will be a place for content like this but never a replacement of people making the vast majority of the content in the world - like how some people watch others play video games. It has a place but it is not the dominant source of entertainment. Thank you for sharing this, Roberta.
I thought it was important, Sam. In other, AI may write the words, but it takes people to put the timing, emphasis, and emotion into them. I've thought of that and have even written in the hard copy of the Jolt Survival Series Pilot: DEDICATION: Staging, lighting, music, and the actors' use of gesture, posture, facial expression, proximity, and blocking as they interpret character make clear that playwrights, regardless of who we are, only write the lines.
Ive used Al software for over 10-years: photoshop, aftereffects, inferno, Flame, pre-viz boards. I am saving Time using AI because Suits in charge are cheap, will always find ways to save/cut cost.
I was around when movies switched from film to digital and I remember lots of Academy ASC cinematographers complaining about film vs. digital. Basically, cinematographers who didnt embrace technology worked less.
So I guess AI is coming for writers' jobs.
Not worried, Dan. The question is more one of how AI can help a screenwriter.
Sunspring (a scifi short film) was also written by an AI. Worth a watch
Sunspring ttps://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-trp-001&ei=UTF-8&hsimp=yhs-001&hspart=trp&p=sunspring+ai&type=Y167\_F163\_202037\_102020#id=1&vid=83e8ea65f24f682b3ba546d6f53b8605&action=click I watched it. I could almost guess what it was about. The acting caught me. The story . . . I'm not sure there was one.
“AL” is not rocket science but data generated from human intelligence. There will always be a market for material not requiring organic first person intellect & some can’t tell the difference anyway. It’s up to the observer/audience to sort the wheat from the chaff.

What's this with "ai gonna take my job" recently? First of all how many here have an actual job in writing for film...that means full time WH, obligations and a boss threatening to fire you every other week? If AI gonna replace anybody ever it ain't going after freelancers, hobbyists nor amateurs... hence relax...
