Advice on Selling a Script

How do I go about selling a script? I want to sell my short screenplay to someone in New York that will actually bring it to life. It takes place in New York so I won't be able to do anything with it.

Hi, Makaila Armstrong. You could post your script on your profile. That's how I sold four short scripts to a producer on Stage 32. Click the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and select “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu. Scroll down to “Loglines” and click “Add/edit loglines” to the right of “Loglines.” You can also post your script on your profile this way (near the top where it says “Add a Logline”): www.stage32.com/loglines

You could also check the Job Board for producers and directors looking for short scripts (www.stage32.com/find-jobs). The Job Board is updated regularly.

And you could search for NY producers and directors in the Browse Members section and network with them (www.stage32.com/people).

Have you looked around for agents or companies that may be open for submissions? I'm sure you aren't the only person in that position so try and find others with hands on experience.

Email movies@newyork.com and prepare to be rich and famous, of course LOL!

Short scipts do very well on SimplyScripts.com as there's lots of filmmakers on there looking for them, many of whom will be in NY. You can also upload it to Script Revolution and tag it as being set in NY, which some people may be searching specifically for.
