Hey everyone So my book The Dragonfly Kingdoms: Discovery is a Fantasy Book for children, is done with editing and cover design. I will be self publishing this book through Amazon at the end of the month. My question is I would like to do a joint partnership with a screenwriter to turn my book into a script, everyone who has pre-read my book has told me it has a cinematic feel to it. This is book one in a two part series, Should I go ahead and start working on turning book one into a script or should I wait until book two is done? ( If you go to my profile I have a preview of the book there) Thanks Nicole
Start adapting the book right away.

When your book is published, I think producers will be calling you. Good luck!
People often go to authors seeking film rights and if you have the right project that way, you may want to seek out an agent to pitch it for film right sales. If that happens a studio may just want to develop it themselves and pay you for rights without a script being sold. You would end up with better writers probably that way. So unless for some reason you think you want to sell the screenplay to help promote the book, then you would partner with a writer and need to negotiate rights with them - ie. do they get the rights for the screenplay? Do you? Share 50/50? You paying them by the hour? How will you negotiate the deal?
Thanks David!
Thank you everyone! I will keep everyone posted.
So, just a little update, I am 26 pages in to the script and I can already here the soundtrack to it. Is that weird?
Already? I would think for some it starts with the opening scene. hehe. Sounds like you have a nice imagination. Healthy.
