Characters in ALL CAPS in direction question

Hi Lovely People, I have received conflicting information and in reading a lot of scripts I'm seeing a lot of variety to my question. First, my script has a lot of characters. IF I were an actor, I'd want to see my character's named mentioned clearly. Question: is it best practice to have the character's name mentioned in normal lower case text (except after first mentioned) - OR - have the characters in ALL CAPS each mention in direction? A lot of scripts I've read have all caps. Attached is a visual. Thanks for help in advance.

The fact of the matter is actors are not directors. Apart from memorizing lines, they won't have much control on the action of the scene. All caps for first mention, but after that it should be normal lower case. Hope this helps.

Eric Christopherson

The standard approach is to use all caps only to introduce a character.

I agree, it's what I've used in the past. I was a bit surprised for this script's case reading scripts who capitalize every mention. I started capitalizing the first three pages for a table read, and thought I'd ask before making change, investing the time.

Rebecca James

I agree, CAPS on intro!
