Screenwriting : Dealing with a potential giant. by Gregory Barone

Dealing with a potential giant.

I just want to tell you all that I redid my short stories and have them all together, ready to be sent off to Amazon. I just hope that it will sell. I just want to ask all of you if you know of anyone here on Stage 32 that you think I could send my giant killer script. I'm going to work on it this year and maybe send it to someone, but I was wondering if you knew of anyone here I could send it to. It would be a great help to me. I just want to know also about what happens after I send it and someone loves it, what do I do? I don't have the money for an agent or lawyer, and I know after reading the books that were recommended to me that I might need to do that.

Dan MaxXx

focus on the book; the first thing (book) should be the main thing for now

T.L. Davis

I second Dan MaxXx . I have screenplays and pilots for the novels I would like to see become films or TV series, but there are some that I don't. Once the book is copyrighted, the rest works itself out. I typically copyright everything I've finished, though, to put a cap on it, so to speak. The "who to send it to" is a whole other journey that is long and littered with the bones of the ambitious.

CJ Walley

This feels a little like worrying what tires you are best fitting to your Ferrari right after buying a lotto ticket. Start small, learn, work your way up, and be patient.

Stephen Folker

I'd be more focused on getting your books out there and seeing if they're a hit vs. 'what if'.

Deals that happen are based on relationships. There is no magic ticket. And if it gets to the stage or real money being involved, there are many business attorneys that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Jed Power

Gregory, Good Luck with the stories. What is the log line for your giant killer script, please?

Gregory Barone

Jed Power A brave tailor uses his wit and guile rather than swords and spears to rid the land of menacing giants and gets the king into giving him half his kingdom and his daughter’s hand in marriage. you are free to look at my longlines on my profile here.

Gregory Barone

thank you Dan MaxXx , T.L. Davis , CJ Walley, Stephen Folker, I've had a lot of things that I hoped would be great and make me money only to have it fail and not do anything. I find and make one thing, and I show it to one guy here, and he makes it sound like I have lighting in a bottle, being it covers fantasy and an underdog character.

Thanks, Jason Mirch I'll keep you in mind, but my friend Maurice Vaughan here on Stage 32 gave me some links and ideas that might help me. I still need to write the script here.
