Hi everyone,
I’m 21 and just starting out in screenwriting. I’ve finally got my pilot, lookbook, and series bible ready — now I’m wondering how to actually take the next step.
For those of you who’ve found representation, how did it happen for you? Was it through contests, networking, referrals, or something else entirely?
I know it’s probably delusional, but my biggest dream would be to reach FX or A24 with my script. Any advice or stories on how you got there would mean a lot.

Hi, Philipp Müller. Congratulations on getting your pilot, lookbook, and series bible ready!
I had a manager back in 2009 and 2010. I networked with him, and he read some of my work, then he signed me.
You could pitch to managers through Stage 32's Pitch Sessions (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/pitch-sessions). The Pitch Sessions are primarily to get feedback on your pitch, but some writers have been signed by managers (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/success-stories).
You could also enter screenwriting contests like these (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/contests). It’s a way to get the script in front of managers, agents, and other industry professionals, if you place in or win the contests.
And you could search for managers and agents with IMDBPro (https://pro.imdb.com/signup/index.html).

Also, you might want to write a second and maybe third script before pitching your series, Philipp Müller. Managers and agents might want to see a portfolio of work. Or maybe work on your second and maybe third script as you pitch your series.

I looked up agents who represent up and comers with screenplays like mine and pitched a sceeenplay to them. I landed an agent and first manager this way.
