Screenwriting : Last scene by Roxanne Paukner

In television an epilogue is a normal factor, especially for a comedy. In film it's not as popular, but what could it hurt? I believe in writing and shooting whatever, then making the tough decision in post to keep it or not.

In my opinion, there would be no need for one, you should be able to tell the story and close it.

Depends on story. The Post & Spotlight have epilogue closures (written by same writer, biopics). But then again, there is no guarantee you will be involved in production/post

Soon after, she retired from screenwriting and created a hybrid fruit - the Banapple - which was adopted as the state fruit of North Dakota.

Teasers & tags (epilogue) are relatively common in tv series but in films - not so much but if you feel it's necessary, write it (we can always cut it).

A. S. Templeton or Doug Nelson Follow-up question: How would this epilogue/tag be written? Place the slug line and scene a few spaces after "the end" ? I've not seen it done so don't know how it appears.

The ones that I recently done are continued narration or sound effects following the FADE OUT transition with VO dialog. I don't change location after a final scene (or it wouldn't be the final scene.) so I don't need a scene header (keep in mind - film is a visual medium).
