I sent off ten pages of my screenplay to be evaluated. I'm happy with this statement. As a fan of Sci-Fi, space exploration, and big ideas, I think the writer has an intriguing concept with potential. I like the idea of a future where corporations own/run countries/governments. It's heady, percipient, and relevant to today. Not too happy with this statement. Not only do astronauts not talk like this, but no one does. I understand I have a lot to learn. This is harder than I imagined.

Hello James Bat! Wow I can’t believe how everybody obsesses over the first 10 pages. Every other post is first 10 page classes and advice and paid workshops. I totally understand the importance of grabbing the reader but does anybody worry about a SLAMMIN first 10 pages followed by 110 pages of a bore-fest? James have you seen For All Mankind on Apple? Very well done and cleverly written. You would probably like it based on your interests. I really related to October Sky, a movie nobody talks about but really makes you think about being a kid and loving space and rockets. Good luck on the story sir Bill

Embrace the good feedback and keep going. Every draft of your script make it that much better.

Wow, Im shocked a reader reading just 10 pages can come up with this marketing feedback. Were there any notes on craft?
I guess I was a crappy reader. All I care about is I'm not wasting my time reading; That the writer showed screenwriting competence from page 1, first paragraph.
Famous Scripts like The Matrix, Lethal Weapon, Juno, or even Bad Moms- these writers grab your attention from opening paragraph, set the tone immediately.

Show don't tell and show us through action, and save some mystery and intrigue so it can be parceled out.

Anybody remember Sling Blade? This is not a knock on it because it’s awesome but there cannot be anything within the first 10 pages of that script that would win anybody over. He walks around town having simple dialogue with the same background music for 20 minutes. Yet it is totally compelling because of Billy Bob Thorntons vision for that character. And he won an Oscar for it. Remember nobody knows anything!!

Dwight Yoakam btw just born for that role. I think just about anybody has his character in their life at some point in time or at least knows somebody like that.
