There's a lot of real technology, vehicles, gear, etc. you can use in your scripts – which is great – but what about coming up with your own? I do it with my scripts. I came up with this aircraft once that could fly like a jet and land/take off like a helicopter. And it had spider legs and a scorpion tail weapon. I think the spider legs helped it land/take off.
Coming up with tech, vehicles, etc. could help your scripts stand out. Sci-Fi, Action, Fantasy, Crime, and Adventure are probably the best genres for new stuff, but they can work for Comedy, Mystery, and other genres too.
Do you invent tech, vehicles, etc. for your scripts?

Cool, Billy Kwack. Do you come up with tech, vehicles, gear, or something else?

George Lucas imagined & invented Star Wars. But then again, he was directing and hired craftsppl. So when he says on the script, "X Wing fighter" & "TIE Fighter", it made sense to his crew.

Maurice Vaughan I think in 2025 it's hard to ideate new screen tech. As a sci-fi writer I try to imagine what extra-terrestrial worlds with sentient beings might look like, and then I plummet down the rabbit hole of ideation like carbon v silicon-based organisms, different gravity, etc. Sounds like it would be a good contest, i.e. "Most original, imagined tech". Tech in sci-fi tends to be pretty similar, even in the abberant examples like Farscape or Lexx...

That sounds like a great method for coming up with new tech, Mike Childress! I think it's easy to ideate new screen tech in 2025. One way is to look at the concept and brainstorm ideas based off it. I'd submit to that contest!

I was blown away by 'The Creator' with its outside-the-box tech driven vehicles (whether land or air) and never before seen gear. High production value helps!

I've been meaning to watch The Creator, Marina Albert. I want to even more now! I'm interested in seeing how the tech and gear are used. I don't know what the story is about, but that's how I like watching a lot of movies.

I have thousands of hours of experience of scientific research. So I know some things which most people don't know. When I was recently asked for a contribution to Youtube, I included mending holes with a magnetic liquid (yes, that is real) and flashing lights by striking a piezoelectric substance (equally real).
That much scientific research will definitely come in handy when coming up with things for scripts, Göran Johansson. Do you ever combined real things with fictional things to come up with new stuff for your scripts?

Combining? Sometimes that can be easy. Combine a known fact with an unproven idea. And there are many unproven ideas.

It's included in the Prime Video membership if you have it, Maurice.
