Hi, I've just started applying for festivals/competitions this year and have had some luck. One of them landed me a chance at the end of this month to pitch in front of various producers and agents and before this the institution which I applied to requires a document from me which must include a note of intent. I have seen some basic templates on googles but none specifically for pitching a tv series, if anyone has any experience in writing notes of intents not just for tv series but for filmmaking could you maybe give some advice? Fast responses would be wonderful as this is due in eight days and will be shown to the people I'm pitching to before I do. Thank you
Just some suggestions to get you started -- assuming I'm understanding what they're asking for. I think they may want what's called an author's statement about your own motivations as opposed to what you were trying to do with your TV series. Go back and look at the context of the request in the guidelines they've given you for this phase of the competition to see if it's supposed to be your intent with this specific series or your intent more generally as a writer. If it's about you as a writer: Talk about the subjects you like to write about and why you think you're attracted to them, your motivation as a writer, the themes (basic social or political or cultural concerns) you try to address in your work, and what you plan to write over the next year or so.
Email Joey (stage32 boss). He might have advice?
I am not sure if it is a directors statement they simply said it was a note of intent talking about the series as a whole. But thank you for the advice so far it has been helpful
