November Write Club! Week 3 Goals & Reflections

Hey Screenwriters!

How are you doing with your week 3 for NWC?

For Week 3, my goal is to close Act 2 at the climax with 75 pages total. I’m currently about 20 pages away, and I’m determined to hit that milestone this week.

Preparing for Future Meetings, Pitches & Collaborations

This week’s Stage 32 blog asks us to reflect on how we prepare ourselves for the industry side of the journey.

For me, the most important habit has been reviewing my failures honestly, not to dwell on them, but to learn from them. Every misstep in a meeting, every pitch that didn’t land, and every collaboration that didn’t click has taught me something about clarity, confidence, and connection. By reframing those experiences as lessons, I can turn them into strengths the next time I’m in the room.

When the industry feels slow or competitive, I remind myself that perseverance isn’t about ignoring setbacks, it’s about transforming them into fuel. That mindset keeps me moving forward, page by page, meeting by meeting, until the work finds its place.

That’s my Week 3 check-in. How are you preparing yourself for future opportunities, and what strategies keep you going when things feel tough?

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Sandra Isabel Correia! Congratulations on being about 20 pages away to reaching your goal!

I wrote and rewrote a one-page script for Week 3. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to use it as a writing sample or pitch it. A producer, director, etc. could easily turn the one-page script into a feature film. I might outline and write another short script this week. Maybe 3-5 pages long.

I'm learning more about screenwriting and other areas of the industry to prepare for future opportunities. Something that keeps me going when things feel tough is talking with the Stage 32 community.

Marc Ginsburg

I didn't even know this was going on so this is Day 1 for me. But it's not Day 1, it's Year 8 for CHRYSALIS - THE FAMILY ADVENTURE(S), now into an even more exciting phase that includes a Billie Eilish concert, another divided house election result, something else which my ADMLed mind cannot remember at this moment, and eventually the fire that sends the family packing to place 2 in their saga not of rich Americans that can pediddle and wile away their time in meaningless boring shit that gets top TV ratings, but real people who are struggling and get hit at every turn. I chose Billie Eilish because I immediately connected with her when I first heard "Bad Man". She doesn't write hits that industry insiders love. She hits back and forces the industry to reckon with her because she has billions of fans around the world who relate go her music. That's Chrysalis - The Family Aedvrnture(s) exactly A show that grapple with life.

My new determination:

● I KEEP WRITING CHRYSALIS - THE FAMILY ADVENTURE(S) AND IT BECOME EVEN BETTER AND EVEN MORE EXCITING AND GET WRITTEN AHEAD OF SCHEDULE

● 15 MILLION PRODUCERS, EXECUTIVES & DIRECTORS, in addition to ROB REINER & RAEGAN REVORD as actors, WANT TO & ARE READY TO WORK ON CHRYSALIS - THE FAMILY ADVENTURE(S) & TURN THIS SCRIPT INTO THE VERY EXCITING TV ADVENTURE WITH 8 BILLION FANS THAT IT MERITS AND THIS WILL START THIS INSTANT

Maurice Vaughan, Thank you, and congratulations on pushing through your Week 3 work! A one-page script that could expand into a feature is such a powerful tool, whether you use it as a writing sample or pitch it. I love that you’re already thinking strategically about how it might serve you in different contexts.

Outlining another short script this week sounds like a fantastic way to keep the creative momentum going. Those 3–5 pages could be the seed of something bigger or simply a sharp showcase of your voice.

I really appreciate what you said about the Stage 32 community; it’s true, connecting here keeps us moving when the industry feels slow or competitive. That kind of perseverance is exactly what this week’s Write Club blog highlights about making strong first impressions. You’re already building that foundation.

I'm cheering you on as you decide the next step for your one-pager and dive into the new short!

Sandra Isabel Correia

Marc Ginsburg, I love the passion and determination you’re bringing into Week 3; it’s contagious! Eight years of commitment to Chrysalis. The Family Adventure(s) is no small journey, and it’s inspiring to see how you’re weaving in cultural touchpoints like Billie Eilish to capture that raw, relatable energy.

Your vision of a show that grapples with real-life struggles, rather than glossing over them, is powerful. That kind of authenticity is exactly what resonates with audiences and collaborators alike.

I admire how boldly you’re setting your determination, writing ahead of schedule, keeping the project exciting, and imagining the scale of support it deserves. Keep channeling that drive; it’s the kind of perseverance that turns long-term projects into breakthroughs.

Cheering you on as Chrysalis continues to evolve , and can’t wait to see how this phase unfolds!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Sandra Isabel Correia. Thanks. I have some ideas for the short script. I just have to pick one. I'm cheering you on too!

Elle Bolan

Hi Sandra! I loved your entry for this week. We should all remember to learn from our failures.

Leonardo Ramirez 2

Hey Sandra Isabel Correia - how far you've come in Act 2 is a beautiful thing. You're disciplined and keep your priorities. You're going to make it! Like you, I believe that "failures" can be opportunities to learn. I'm also starting to believe that a failure can also be protection from going down a road that I wasn't supposed to go down and my path is being rerouted. The best path doesn't always present itself right away - sometimes it shows up in our "rerouting".

Happy Week 3 / NWC.

Thank you very much for the reminder to accept mistakes peacefully — they’re part of the process.

I’m on page 11 now. I feel slow because I still struggle with English and with organizing the story,

but I still believe it’s worth it — worth even the headaches.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Thank you, Elle Bolan. I am for you also.

Sandra Isabel Correia

My hermano, Leonardo Ramirez 2 :)) Thank you so much. Today, I have an impossible mission. To write my last 10 pages of Act 3. I worked hard this week, and I believe I will finish my NWC one week early. :) I will keep you updated. Yes, failures are incredible opportunities for us to grow, and you know what? I enjoy failure because it means that the next opportunity will be a success. :) Now I'm back to my The Misstep. Talk later.

Sandra Isabel Correia

Happy NWC for you, too, Meriem Bouziani. I am so proud of your 11 pages; you are amazing. I know how English sometimes can be tricky. Also for me, it isn't my native language; I am Portuguese, but we can make it. Let's gooo. We are cheering for you.

Meriem Bouziani

Thank you very much for this great encouragement Sandra Isabel Correia

Yes, we can make it, no matter what.

Happy NWC

Eon C. Rambally

Always welcoming the challenges Sandra Isabel Correia! It's what keeps us going!

Sandra Isabel Correia

That’s the truth my friend Eon C. Rambally :))

I’m really happy to share that today I finished writing the screenplay for The Misstep, a total of 97 pages!

My original plan was to complete it by November 28, but thanks to focus, resilience, and dedication, I reached this milestone one week early. Sometimes the work happens faster than we dream, and this is one of those moments.

Because of this achievement, I’m setting a new goal for next week: polish the screenplay for The Misstep. This way, I’ll be ready to move into packaging and prepare for the festival circuit in 2026.

Grateful for the motivation and support from this community. Let’s keeping pushing forward together!

Sandra Isabel Correia, it is excellent seeing this! Great anticipations for the next move!
