Screenwriting : Pitchdeck with treatment by James Fogerty

Pitchdeck with treatment

Hello. I wrote a treatment for a movie several years ago. I think the content it more socially acceptable now. I would love to get some feed back. My sister put together a pitch deck.

Welcome to the community, James Fogerty. Here's a blog that'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry professionals: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

A Million Sunflowers sounds exciting and unique! I didn’t have time to read the treatment, but I read the pitch deck. Your sister did a great job on the pitch deck! It’s really long with the treatment though. I suggest taking out the treatment and having that as a separate file.

I also suggest taking out some of the pitch deck pages. If this was a pitch deck for a spec script, I’d suggest keeping the pitch deck to 15 pages or less, but it looks like Clear Fog Films is planning on making A Million Sunflowers. I suggest keeping your pitch deck to around 20 pages if Clear Fog Films plans on making this movie. Here’s the pages I suggest cutting from the pitch deck so it’s 21 pages:

The second page (maybe move the saying on page 2 to the bottom of the logline page)

“The Characters”

Page 13

“Positioning”

Remove the white line at the bottom of page 20.

Ok thank you for the insight. I will add the file that is the pitch deck only to the drive folder. Im new to all this but I think the story is fun and has a lot of potential. Thanks again for checking it out!

You're welcome, James Fogerty. In my experience, producers and directors ask for the pitch deck first and if they want to read more about the story, they'll request the treatment or script. But that's for spec scripts I've pitched.

And you or someone at Clear Fog Films might know this already, but if Clear Fog Films is planning on making A Million Sunflowers, I suggest getting a business plan made. Investors will want to see one. If you're looking for someone to make a business plan, Patrick McIntire makes them. Check out the posts about business plans on his profile (www.stage32.com/profile/104563/posts-updates).

We have entered the story into a few competitions so far but we are really just bringing it to the light of day. At one point i tried to wrap my head around doing dialogue. But I agree the treatment can be cleaned up. I also have illustrations for the story but I cannot access them currently.

James Fogerty If you're just pitching the script to sell it, I suggest removing some of the pages (The Market, Strategy, and Marketing). I also suggest keeping a copy of your pitch deck with The Market, Strategy, and Marketing pages in case you and Clear Fog Films want to make the film in the future. Those three pages will come in handy when pitching to investors and getting other producers, a director, etc. on the team.

Here is the deck with your suggestions Maurice Vaughan

I will dive into some of the tutorials here. Thank you for your input.

You're welcome, James Fogerty. The pitch deck looks great! The white line is still at the bottom of the "A Million Sunflowers' audience" page, but it might just be part of the picture.

Here's a webinar on putting together a pitch deck (www.stage32.com/education/products/how-to-put-together-a-perfect-pitch-d...). It's taught by Michelle Alexandria. She knows her stuff about pitch decks. I've worked with her on pitch deck jobs. It's more for producers, directors, and independent financiers, but you can still learn things about pitch decks from it.
