Hi All; I love writing comedy or what I call 'gentle comedy' so it's not out and out huge laughs, but something to make you smile. A production company seeks holiday-themed scripts. I have an idea and could probably write by the deadline. Here we go!
After losing her husband, , Dahlia, a spirited Jewish woman faces her first holiday season alone. With her parents abroad and no family nearby, she decides to celebrate Christmas — much to the confusion of her Jewish and non-Jewish friends. As candles meet candy canes, Dalia’s unconventional holiday sparks chaos, laughter, and a surprising sense of togetherness.
Hi, Ilanna Mandel. I’m a Stage 32 Lounge Moderator. I wanted to let you know I moved your post from the Screenwriting Lounge to the Your Stage Lounge because it’s promotion. Promotion can go in the Your Stage Lounge and on Your Wall.
You can put promotion in a discipline Lounge (Screenwriting Lounge, Producing Lounge, Filmmaking/Directing Lounge, etc.) if your post starts a conversation that’s helpful or educational to the community, like giving advice or asking a question.
You can also put promotion in one of the discipline Lounges if you're asking for feedback.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Are you joining Stage 32's November Write Club? It could help you reach a goal(s), and it's a chance to connect with writers, directors, producers, etc. There's prizes too! Week 2's blog came out today. www.stage32.com/blog/november-write-club-week-2-insights-from-the-stage-...

Hello Ilanna, seems like a fun premise. I have not been writing for long but have made serious inroads. I started my first script 5 months ago, and it was just picked up by a serious manager. I tell you this, not to brag, although I guess I am proud, I tell you because originally it was a comedy, but reality of the market pushed me into "Dark Comedy". I now have a holiday trilogy, all touching on Rot!

Thanks, Adam. May I ask how you got the manager to work with you?

I really like the premise a lot. I suspect there would be streaming interest for sure.

I love the plot! I'm patrilineal and celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. Let us know how the script comes along! I love movies that are about or mention Hanukkah because so few are made.

Thanks to Maurice for helping me find this again. I'm struggling with this one character I've created = he's a really nice man and could be good for my protagonist but I don't want this to be a story where everything ties up neatly. I'm thinking they connect but it's left up in the air like - who knows?
You're welcome, Ilanna Mandel. I like that idea, and it leaves room for their relationship to be a storyline in a sequel if there is one.
