Re-writing

Hi everyone! I´m so honored and happy to announce that I'm officially an ambassador for stage32.com, I'm so grateful for the opportunity, and I will do my best to succeed!

So as my topic says I want to talk about re-writing. -- If you are new to screenwriting this is for you!

So we all get that exciting feeling when we write the last two words "Fade out" "The end"

We think everything is ready to sell or to produce, but I'm sorry to say this, but it's just the beginning. To write a script is one thing, but all the things that come after that are much more painful. You have to re-write everything, you will probably also have to delete a lot to make it perfect, and it might take longer than it took you to write the script.

I wrote my first real script for a feature movie back in December, funny note, I finished my script around Christmas eve, and it only took me 3-4 weeks to write all 100. I was totally new in this I had no experience or knowledge of screenwriting. Back in January, I decided to begin this new adventure and I spent a lot of time searching, etc. And I attended an online screenwriting festival and created a profile at stage32 and that changed my life, I went from not knowing anything to knowing so much!

Anyway, from your script is done to when it's ready to be sold or produced will take time! Therefore I would recommend you to get a screening from someone and you are very lucky because stage32 has different services, just click on "Script Service" or "Screening" And you have so many options and the best part if you ask me is that you can trust it, there are so many sites who don't do what you pay for but in here I guarantee you, you will get what you pay for! It is worth it!

Something you have to know is that maybe you have written 100 pages, but the one who is editing and reads it can if he/she offers it, change your mistakes and you will end up with a lot fewer pages than you have written!

I have tried that and I was so surprised and upset that I have written 95-100 pages and when I got it in return it was only 67 pages! It was not a fun experience, but I learned A LOT about my mistakes and the things I needed to remember!

And it was so helpful, but of course, I couldn't live with 67 pages when it was for a feature movie, so I took the feedback and ended up with a lot of pages again, and this time I re-wrote it 2 times and it is now 95 pages! And if you ask me I'm totally satisfied with the result.

So to make it easier to understand here is a list of things you have to pay attention to, and things you can do!

BUT REMEMBER that it takes time! and it is totally normal that it will take longer than you thought when you began to write the script!

Here is the list

1. Print your script! It is so much easier to see the mistake if you read it on paper, instead of a document or a writing program! Your eyes and brain concentrate more when you read things on paper!

2. Have the script on your computer so you can edit the mistakes when you find them! It is a lot easier and won't take all your time!

3. When you feel you have changed all the mistakes or added something you do the two first steps again. YES, ITS A LOT OF PAPER! but it's worth it!

4. Go to this site, and find the perfect help! -- https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices

5. Depends on the feedback and what the coverage person says/changes!

6. If he/she thinks it's fine after the coverage you can begin the next process, I won't talk about that because it will take too long!

So as you can see there is a lot of things you have to do after you are done writing the script! But the good thing is that stage32 has it all! So what are you waiting for?

2022 is just around the corner, why don´t we all agree that in the next few months we will work on our work! And when we jump into 2022 we are ready to dive into the selling/production journey!

I wish you nothing else than good luck, and feel free to share how long you are in your process and how long it took you, etc.!

"The more we share, the more we learn!

Sille Larsen Your story is FABULOUS! I'm happy that you've found new career direction less than a year ago an are already seeing fruits of success.

I'm going through something similar. When I lost my big-girl literature editing job in 2020, I was directionless, aimlessly applying for more career roles. Recently I've changed my focus from career-hunting to screenwriting. I now have ALL the serotonin.

I finished a 24-page draft for a Coming-of-Age / Crime dramedy. At first I was so proud- I submitted it to competition- and now I'm like: I STARTED THE STORY IN THE WRONG PLACE! HOW FIX? HOW FIX? WHAT IS MY STORY?

Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you all!
