Screenwriting Tip – Try Out Different Things

When you think of an idea, try out different protagonists, antagonists, and locations.

Say you come up with the idea “An agent defends herself against an intruder in a safe house.” Try out: “A manager defends himself against an animal in a store during afterhours.”

And you could try out different genres, goals, and stakes.

You never know what kind of story you’ll come up with.

Change the genders and ages. Move the idea to the past or the future. Change the social background of the characters. Give them a religious belief, or whatever which changes their view of the world. Change the weather or the time of the year and day.
