We're getting set to launch a new streaming web network and are looking for talented Prop Builders to do video blogs showcasing their works and giving tips on prop building - to see what we're doing go to www.thefanfilmproject.com - Along with having your video blog run on the network you would have a page on the website with your videos and a image library of your works along with information on how people can contact you to commission your services.
Thanks Larry :)
I'm a propmaker, but I only work for pay.
Over the years I've found myself working for a number of things a career, success, a better life, happiness, becoming a better husband and father and have found pay being the least rewarding, shortest lasting one of them all. You get it and its like pouring water in your hands as in a matter of moments it's gone as 50,000 people have their hands out ready to snatch it from you. But joyful memories and life changes last forever.
That's nice, but it doesn't pay the rent. There are enough people out there trying to get something for nothing from artists. Why should we impose this inequity upon ourselves?
We're not asking anyone to make any props. The only thing we have going on right now is finding artists who would like to have their creations and services promoted.
There is for free, no pay?
Once we have sponsors in place there will be pay, but not for just getting things set up.
I am open for building propos. I need to know more about this sponsors:)
What we're doing is working on setting up a streaming network and creating content to show on it. One of the shows that we want to produce is a "How to" on prop making, so we're looking for prop makers filming the creation of some of their props with tips on how to do it. This would give opportunity exposure for the prop builder by being able to show off their works and give out information on how to get ahold of them to be commissioned for pieces, so it would be mutually beneficial to us and the prop builder. We'll be looking for sponsors to advertise with the show like the companies that supply casting materials etc... Once we have sponsors involved then a percentage of that would go to the fabricators and anyone else involved in producing the show. So at this point we're not looking for anyone to create any specific props for any of our productions, just to have fabricators document their own projects. What we'd like to do would be to get a couple fabricators doing this and rotate them either by having a couple projects put together in one show or if the segment is long enough spotlighting a different artist each week, everything will depend on what kind of response we receive. Now if we were to have someone really ambitious come along who is charismatic and motivated to do a weekly 20 minute segment we wouldn't be opposed to just featuring the one artist. That's the basics of what we're working to accomplish. We'd like to do the same thing for costume making, make up, special FX etc... So again depending on the response we get it could end up being a show rotating between all of those, just spotlighting one category each week.
Thank you for long e-mail. Stay in touch.
