Screenwriting : Looking for free short movie scripts by Wayne G Sweat

Looking for free short movie scripts

Does anyone know of a good website for free short movie scripts?

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

I have a ton of short scripts. What kind are you looking for?

Anthony Cawood

Hi Wayne, I have a number of shorts available, loglines on my profile or feel free to check out my website... www.anthonycawood.co.uk - let me know if you'd like to see any of the full scripts...

Wayne G Sweat

Thank you gentlemen for your interest. I made a similar post in two other places and now have enough scripts to keep me going for a while. With your permission I'd like to get back to you after I've completed a couple of projects.

Anthony Cawood

No problem Wayne, GL with the projects.

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

Of course Wayne.

Edith Woi

I know you have enough but when and if you have I too have a short script titled Chubby Wubby.

Edith Woi

@Benjamin....Thanks! Nice forum

Guy McDouall

Inktip.com allows writers to post their short scripts for free (Features you have to pay for). I'm not sure how it works if you're a producer but I think it's still free for shorts. I had a short made with a producer/director that read my logline on inktip and got in touch.

Edith Woi

@Guy...you are a gem! I am on inktip.com...but didn't see the option for SHORT SCRIPTS.... Will list mine now.

Anthony Cawood

Inktip is great for shorts, sold 2 and optioned a 3rd last year via their listings... you'll need to register your script, they suggest either WGA, Copyright Office or Write Vault... I use the latter for shorts as it's only $10. Link is http://www.inktip.com/ep_shorts_index.php

Edith Woi

@Anthony. Congrats! Gives me hope:-)

Anthony Cawood

Thanks Edith, I've optioned a few via SimplyScripts too, so I'd definitely get your shorts up there as well.

Edith Woi

@Anthony...only heard about SimplyScripts today....scripts up! :-)

Anthony Cawood

Good stuff, once they go live you'll hopefully get some feedback on the discussion boards.

Edith Woi

@Anthony - that forum is a bit unusual in that I couldn't register to join the discussion. I basically ended up sending an email to "please send me an email" link. I would love to join the discussions soon. Waiting.

Anthony Cawood

If I remember correctly, they set you up with board access when your first script goes up... I think ;-)

Anthony Cawood

@Edith - apols if you've seen this before but here's an article I penned on places to showcase your short scripts - http://www.simplyscripts.com/2014/10/22/youve-finished-the-damned-script... Hope it's of some use.

Guy McDouall

@Edith I'm "a gem?" How little you know me! I'll take it anyway. Cheers!

Edith Woi

@Anthony. Thanks! Am reading that now. I would be a fool not to read about your secrets:-) @Guy - har har...gems are dirty little things you know....usually found in the most disgusting parts of the earth! hahahahaha. (if that makes you feel better)

CJ Walley

Great article, Anthony. I've also had short script options via Inktip and Stage 32. Good to see more options out there to host scripts for free. The more competition out there the better, especially with sites out there charging $25pm just to host a single script.

Edith Woi

@CJ. I know right!? $25 amonth for one script is highway robbery! I would literally not blink if someone hacked their site. That is disgusting....in my opinion.... just to HOST....a one -time charge...fair enough...but PER MONTH! Blasphemy! :-)

Edith Woi

@CJ. IF those sites posted clearly, just the names of the company the execs are affiliated with, that would help me to assess whether or not it is value for money. That is why sites such as Stage32 generate such a following. When I shop at the stores, I am able to look on the back of the label for the nutritional value and decide if I buy or not. I hate it when things are not transparent especially online. :-)

Edith Woi

@Lisa- I totally agree. I don't trust these those sites. If I don't list of names they could Ned trying to make a dollar. I was never interested in contests....FilmFestivals are the best you gonna get.

Anthony Cawood

@ CJ - many thanks, glad you liked the aticle, I've a new one going up on the 8th or 9th, focus is on where you can find people advertising for screenwriters and how you can collate and organise searching... will be publised on homepage of SimplyScripts and my site (www.anthonycawood.co.uk/articles) @ Edith, a site that charges you $25 a month is fine if it gets you an option/sale, as you say the 'problem' is the lack of transparancy and apparent smoky nature of things. Guess we can only go on what we experience as writers and try and share our knowledge. @ Lisa, Contests... depends what you want from the contest, if it's a hookup with Producers/Agents/Managers etc then there's only really a few that are likely to help you achieve that, and like you said, you'll still need a killer script. If however you want cash, or to be able to add 'award winning screenwriter' to your CV then there are smaller Contests that can help you achieve that.

Edith Woi

I would like notoriety to be able to take my script anywhere and have someone read and negotiate its sale etc.

Anthony Cawood

@ Edith, that's all of us too then ;-)

Danny Manus

Check out the WWFilmLab.

Marco Fiorini

Our imagination is a good start! . Short, long? However time its takes to tell YOUR story in a delightful ENTERTAINING manner and neurons are firing in bliss.

Marco Fiorini

Do typos require a re-write here?

Edith Woi

Typos- re write in the threads or script? In tnreads...heck nk hahaha. Unless you have a PR person on staff breathing down your neck.

Edith Woi

@Danny thanks! I have major work trying to whittle down my locations and characters! arghh....am still learning "the business" side as opposed to my fantastical story ideas.

Paul W Franklin

I presume when you say 'free', you mean you'll pay the writer expenses, and if there's any budget at all then you'll split it fairly ;)

Evan Marquisee

Mr. Sweat, you can add me to your contact list of people you might want to contact for free short scripts in the future. I have a bunch of them as well and would be glad to write a free short along the lines of what you're looking for as well. I don't mind doing/working on shorts for free. I think they're fun and good material for my real.

Doug Nelson

Wayne – since you’re here in Oregon, perhaps we should get together. PM me your e-mail address. I have everything from intro scripts to award winning scripts ready to shoot.

Pierre Langenegger

Please let me know when you're looking for more shorts, Wayne.

Ken Shaw

I am thrilled this OP came up. I have a tentative Producer in L.A. [ I'm in B.C. Canada ], Who is thrilled about My unique short script, however She want the Docu - Drama turned into a Comedy. Ouch,.... I have never written comedy, so reading some Short Comedy Scripts is now my project !

Anthony Cawood

@ Edith and CJ (and anyone else interested) my new article is up on where you can find Producers, Directors and Filmakers advertising for scripts/writers... http://www.simplyscripts.com/2015/01/08/youve-finished-the-damned-script... Anthony

Edith Woi

@Anthony. Brilliant. Read through and use many of those sites. I'm new at advertising my stuff so will update you on any success. @Ken. I love writing comedy but the heck does one change a docu-drama into a comedy?!! Lol

Ken Shaw

Edith.......The question of the year ! [too me ]. I have no clue, but reading some comedy shorts I can see where I can delete a LOT of my script, then find some 'comedy' to put in it. So far I am still stuck, but hopeful. It is about a group of nudists going against an evil landowner over access to a, historic, isolated nude beach.

Edith Woi

@Ken! hahahaha. I am sorry. If that is the premise...sorry...hell yes it can be funny!!! Nudist? come on people.... doing that is like having a "ball"....you get it....? "ball" hehehe

Pierre Langenegger

Thanks for the post, Anthony.

Anthony Cawood

@Pierre - my pleasure.

Ken Shaw

EDITH,....Could you please give me at least 2 or 3 pages of comedy script with nudists, please !! I am totally stuck, as I am involved with getting it made an official, 'Clothing Optional Beach'. I cannot get the serious mode out of my head, so I need something to start my comedy fire......ANYONE care to get 'Writing Credit' as a minimum on this ????

Edith Woi

@Ken. Sure! I will give a go. I will email you and we can take it from there. Let's see if I can help. :-)

Edward Fleming

Anyone mind handing me a script :)

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

What kind of script are you looking for Edward?

Edward Fleming

Easy stuff. By that I mean not a sic-fi or a western. Short film. My films are non profit, no money involved purely for portfolio, if you have anything please tell me what and I can credit you!

Edward Fleming

Thanks I guess Lisa?

Danny Manus

Simply Scripts has many .

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

Edward, can you link us an example of your past work?
