Screenwriting : I thought I was in a movie by Ed Vassie

I thought I was in a movie

Coming home the other night, I hopped off the bus and heard this god awful MUSIC coming from somewhere. As the bus pulled away I saw that the source of the MUSIC was a Range Rover 4WD with the windows down. The song, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. It was stopped at the traffic lights and the driver, a woman in her mid to late 30s was belting out the song with the reckless abandoned of a drunk karaoke singer. Everyone in the street stopped, raised their hands up in the air and started singing along with her. Okay, some may have been mocking her song choice. My clearest thought at that moment was, holy crap am I in a movie? Has anyone else had any recent experiences like that?

My sister and I heard a large thud outside of the house the other night. She went outside (not I) to go "check it out". The AC unit was running, but before she opened the door it went off, so the ambient noise that I hadn't noticed before just stopped. When she opened the door, the sound of crickets just escalated to an insane degree all while she walked off into blackness, because the lights inside were on, but not out. I just looked around and said "What the fuck??" And laughed. My sister is a big movie head too so I told her and we started making up an entire horror scenario. Real life can be interesting too, haha.

I remember one time I was watching a horror movie - kind of a slasher but not very good. Anyways I was sitting in my living room as the hero was running through the woods looking for his girlfriend knowing that the killer is also there. He hears a scream in the voice of his girlfriend, turning he runs to the noise. When he gets there she's gone. Frantically looking around he spots a cell phone. Picking it up he calls his girlfriend. At the moment he hit send my house phone rang! I never jumped so high in my life. The movie was not scary, but that scared the crap out of me. The timing was just so perfect. So I did feel like I was in a movie, jut not one I wanted to be in.

LOL! Good one Erica!

Good song choice, Ed, like it.

James Calder

Sounds like a good scene Ed, apart from the music that is :·(( Funnily enough, my first screenplay contains something similar.

On Saturday I went out for a mates birthday, but at midnight I did a Cinderella and set off home. I took the short-cut through the park and suffered the same uneasy feeling as I did when I used to take the route fifteen years ago. It was pitch black apart from the entrance of the path behind me. Every time I looked back it became smaller and more obscured by trees and bushes. Every time I expected to see a humanoid figure appear there. & then, from goodness knows where, aethereal music started to play almost inaudibly and I was envisioning becoming victim number one in my own slasher film.
