I wrote a self published novel called angels of death. I want to sell it as a movie idea. The story is about two women who are in their mid 20s who are on the run for murder,they become killers for hire and realize they are in love with each other. Truth is, if you self-published, the book doesn't really mean anything to Hwood unless you've sold over 100,000 copies and probably more. If u have a book agent or publisher, its their job to try and get it into the hands of producers. If you don't have one and your book hasn't sold over 100-200k copies, then you'll probably need to write the script too or at least very extended treatment for the film. Because the downside of self publishing is that unless its huge hit, Hollywood doesn't see it as a plus.

Hi Jay. If your story will make a great movie someone will purchase the rights. But how much they are willing to pay will depend on the guaranteed audience the book brings (how many copies it has sold). Now think of a line with an idea at one end and a completed production script at the other. At the idea end is zero and at the other end is the maximum amount a budget will allow. How much money you get depends upon how far along the line you are.
