We've had Lincoln, John Adams (miniseries), George Washington in various forms, Alexander Hamilton as a musical and most assuredly a film at some point, JFK, George W., etc. But who's missing?
In honor of President's day, is there a US president you would want to see a dedicated biopic for? How would you write it?
For me, it would have to be Thomas Jefferson and it would cover the First Barbary War, or Ulysses S. Grant and his.... everything. Everything he did!
edit: yes yes, Alexander Hamilton wasn't a President, but he was a founding father. Close enough!
Only one answer for me, President Obama, your best yet.
I'd like to see an honest portrayal of Truman. From what I've seen an read he really didn't have to drop the bombs. He likely did it more to scare Russia than to defeat Japan. Seems to be one of the biggest false hoods of our history.
And not to be a pain but Hamilton was not a president.
If I had the guts and some help, I would write a cautionary tale entitled: Donald Trump and the American People

Not a president but a fantastic musical!
Anthony- are you referring to Hamilton or Trump?
Yes, Anthony, a farcical musical could work -- though it may be too much of a dark comedy?
Andrew Jackson.
I was agreeing with you Travis, Hamilton wasn't president but his story still made for a fantastic musical...
Sorry for the messages at cross-purpose.

Annie, and I agree with you a Trump comedy musical would be awesome, something along the lines of Book of Mormon.

I like Ike, but the real Trump comedy is most entertainment I seen in quite awhile.
I'd like to see some good treatments of the "almost Presidents" from history. Like Stephen Douglas or even some Vice Presidents who never ascended to the Presidency. Or even Lincoln's successor Andrew Johnson. Heck, you start the flick with the Assassination of Lincoln and flashback to Johnson's journey to becoming Lincoln's VP. For whoever ends up writing this, you're welcome. Make it good.
Abe Lincoln told from Mary Todd's point of view.
He never made it to President, but I saw Linus (can't remember his last name) as Robert Kennedy, absolutely amazing performance.
Travolta doing his mock Clinton was good stuff.
Can't remember his name, but I'd like to see a film about the guy who played poker in the White House every week and lost the White House China in a poker hand. And he also had mistresses in a side room. Poker and mistresses....yes sir.....who wouldn't want to see that?
Poker and mistresses? Call it "Poverty and Penicillun"
James Buchanan.
Big TR fan, but I'm wondering how hard it'd be to actually get a presidential biopic made today. I once read the Lincoln movie would never have happened without Spielberg signing on.
I believe that with all the talents following Trump with eagle eyes, if someone came up with a truly original angle on this president, not a hate film, not a love film, but a candid look at what it takes to make /break a president nowadays, with gentle humor and incisive insights, film execs would fight for the rights.
Wait and see.
My title would now be: Donald Trump and The American Dream -- An Outsider's Vision.
Very Interested in a Teddy Roosevelt one.
William Martell Buchanan as the Bachelor President. I see a reality show there. Rose ceremonies in the rose garden.

William Henry Harrison.
I have no idea how I would approach this because, like most people, I know absolutely nothing about him. This is also why I am unlikely to watch a Presidential biopic based on him. However, I would like to see one made so I can tell myself that knowledge is always at my fingertips, should I want it.
