I'm a screenwriter working to improve my skills. One of the most encouraging words I've read by Robert McKee is that writers have to spend years failing before making it, and part of success is to learn from our failure.
I'm working on a re-wite of my first draft of a completed script, and will eventually have to accept that it's just as important to start a new work, as it is to pitch a finished script.
Can't say I've failed, though because I have to get it right before pitching.
You are welcome Lyn
Hi
Hi Lyn, same here. Learning the craft but most importantly learning to survive criticism, set back and reality that it takes so long to develop a voice. Welcome to the Stage, great opportunities to learn here.
Welcome, Lyn!
Hi, Lyn, welcome to S32.
Lyn, congrats on completing the first draft and welcome to Stage 32.
You are in the right place to do all you need to do Lyn. Happy networking!
Lyn, there's no such thing as failure (unless you never try); There is only a learning curve. I don't know if it really takes years but I do know it takes time and commitment. Go for it.
Thanks for the friendly encouragement!
Plenty of writers have succeeded on their first attempt. It's nonsense to suggest that they have to experience years of failure before making it.
