Hello, I'm an aspiring screenwriter from Austin, TX. Several years ago I switched from writing and self-publishing novels to screenwriting. I entered my first screenplay into a few contests and made the semi-finals of the Big Break contest. Now I've advanced to the quarter-finals of the Page contest with my first TV pilot. This is encouraging me to keep writing but I need to explore other ways to connect with the filmmaking industry. I look forward to learning more here!

Welcome, Ken!
Welcome to the stage. Are you interested in Directing or TVC copywriting?
Welcome Ken. You might want to check out Larry Brody at TVwriter.com. Spent a long time writing for TV and has good info. He's got some online writing classes which are small in size and he personally helps get your TV pilot ready for the big time. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the responses. Hannah, I am most interested in seeking representation as a screenwriter. I would love to sell a spec of course but my goal is to work on writing projects. I know a manager would be able to steer me in the right direction but I'm not sure how to get their attention. I have only done contests so far and I'd have to break into the finals to get interest. Jeff, the site has so much information, I don't know where to begin! Thanks.
The great thing about Larry is that he'll answer your emails. The website has the info you're looking for. Eventually, it's about who you know. As you will here from some of the regulars on this site, you have to have some "skin in the game" to make it. Get to know others in the biz. Since you're in Austin, grab a crew, some actors, write a short script, get a director and film it. You will learn a lot and possibly build relationships that will possibly network into other writing gigs. Good luck with it and keep us posted.
Congratulations
Hi Ken ! Nice to meet you :-)
