The Disaster Artist

Did anyone else see this/what did you think? I for one thought it was really well-done with a knack for great dialogue. I found myself laughing almost nonstop and it was kind of inspiring too, watching how someone like Tommy managed to pull off their dream and make a film that went on to succeed in a way and to finance a career for them. I thought Franco's performance was magnificent and that he deserved that Golden Globe. I was also surprised to find out Wiseau still makes content.

Surprisingly, I was very disappointed. I was familiar with The Room phenom when it was a thing in L.A. but never saw it. TDA seemed more like an extended Franco FunnyOrDie sketch than a real movie, and was so self congratulatory (side by side clips in the end credits...ok I get it, you are badass mimics).

I think the reason I disliked TDA is that as flamboyant and unusual as Wiseau is as a character study, TR as a train wreck production was little different than tons of movies that get made all the time, and the people on those shows are just as deluded, green, or burnt out as the TDA characters... I have known "that crew" dozens of times. Call me jaded, but it just reminded me of my own time wasted on some awful sets, especially around the time TR was shot. "Let's burn money" is not entertaining to me, even when I have gotten a piece of it. To pay to see it ? I want my $8 back.
