Anything Goes : Did you check in recently? by Joe Orlandino

Did you check in recently?

I wish people here on Stage 32 would do more than just "Join". A platform like this needs PARTICIPATION. Ever notice how many members' last visit was months or even years ago? And what's with new members not having a Bio and wanting to connect? Is a Bio asking too much? I think the platform would be a more active environment if your membership goes to inactive status if you don't at least check in within a certain amount of time. Any other thoughts on this?

Joe, I try and check in at least every day for 30-60 minutes. If you have specific hurdles you’re coming across in your career, shoot me a message on here and I’ll do whatever I can to help you out. Wishing you all the best!

I don’t think its fair if membership is made inactive if a member does not check in regularly. Some people have work commitments and others are at the mercy of public internet connection, so cannot use regularly anyway. If my router runs out of credit in Sierra Nevada I cannot connect. Artists can be temperamental by nature, so there should not be set rules enforced, in order to fit everyone into a box. HOWEVER I do agree it would be great if people networked more, I’ve hooked up with people from Italy, Spain, Scandinavia and UK. My next Stage 32 stop will be the States. Ive met RB and his team UK.

Hello Joe,

It's been years since I've been on this site, but I'll be using it more now and in the future.

I think Debbie Croysdale makes a good point. Perhaps a ranking system whereby active people are placed higher on a search than someone who joined and never did anything on the platform. It's a bit frustrating to search for a cast or crew member using the search filters only to be forced to slog through dozens of Stage 32'ers who joined 5 years ago and never participated in any manner.

Some members start BS topics nearly daily, endlessly repeat themselves, but aren't "really" involved in the film industry. In your rating system, where would they rank?
