Screenwriting : What are you working on? by Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

Phillip E. Hardy, "The Real Deal"

What are you working on?

I'm juggling several things at once. But my current priority is a paid rewrite. After that, someone paid me to read their book for a possible adaption and I've got a spec sci-fi/film noir script I'd like to finish and another faith-based/sci-fi story I'm developing. Beyond that, I've finished two comedy scripts this year.

So what are you working on? And don't tell me your tan. Please share.

David Lake

Screenplay from my book. Tough going. It may be easier to adapt books by other writers as it is always painful to ' Kill your Darlings. '

Eric Christopherson

I'm putting a check mark on my writing bucket list, writing a heist film spec.

David Downes

Polishing Disco Dracula and doing the research on a female-protagonist dystopian drama.

B.V Jottsonne

wrote a review for Sollers Point on Rotten Tomatoes.....saw three good narrative shorts over weekend USA, Nigeria and South Africa.....keep writing about contemporary reality not make believe or politics (poli-tricks as Armond White would say)

Tom Jennings

Sounds good Phillip, always good to be busy! I'm working on a musical, would love to chat about it with any musical/ theatre lovers!

Chad Stroman

Rewriting "Shadowlands" and beginning/continuing work on an espionage thriller.

And reading as many professional and amateur scripts as possible. Listening to screenwriting podcasts, etc. and learning as much as I can to improve.

Linda Hullinger

Writing a new horror feature in a ScreenwritingU course. Revising a comedy pilot idea into another horror feature. Have come to the conclusion (thru numerous passes) I am not funny by today's standards : ) and writing micro short horror scripts for the fun of it.

Cherelynn Baker

Going forward on my first road trip feature, doing a music video and as always, pursuing finance for Jael. Thanks for asking!

Jerry Robbins

Currently working on a low budget horror tale, but going slower than I would like as I have several audio drama scripts with hard deadlines to complete. Like everyone else, I need more hours in the day. My two completed screenplays (an animated musical and a horror script) have been getting read requests from pitches here and elsewhere.

Todd Bronson

Writing in the shadows. Completed a seductive and supernatural film noir inspired by Cat People.

James Wunderlich

Phillip, congratulations on the rewrite and book adaption. I'm editing a novelization of the Aisha & The Water Dragon screenplay and have begun

Cherie Grant

I'm trying to get my gothic/horror pilot ready for contests and pitches this year. Plus turning it into a novel. Developing it further. Developing a dark comedy. Making notes on horror/comedy feature. READING SO MUCH research that atm I have a huge line-up of books, scripts, sites etc I have to read and hours of podcasts AHHHHHH.

Jody Ellis

Finishing a “writer for hire” script for a producer I’ve been working with and finishing my own script, hopefully in time to get it into Austin. And Of course my freelance writing work. Oh and the damn day job, lol.

Jody Ellis

Owen Mowatt A dramedy is a script that has both comedic and dramatic elements. Usually the characters are dealing with serious issues but it also has comedic tones (much like real life!) Examples would include Silver Linings Playbook, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, Little Miss Sunshine, Crazy Stupid Love.

Malin Bergman Gardskär

My first priority is to finish my treatment/storyline for my TV-serie Her name is Hannah.

Allen Lawrence

I'm working on my second spec script for a TV Drama I am pitching. I am also juggling several feature spec scripts.

Tasha Lewis

Written Pitches and PhD case studies.

Christiane Lange

Matthew H Emma :D As an ex-NYer married into a Greek family, this scenario sounds completely realistic. In the frequent Greek-Jewish romances of that city, it was always the grandmothers, on both sides, who stood in the way. For both groups, religion is so intrinsically tied to identity, that the thought of "losing" the grandchildren to another religion is too much for the grannies.

Matthew H Emma

Christiane, thanks and I'm glad you find the concept interesting and realistic. Everything you say is true.

David Lake

Polishing screenplay adaption of my Thriller. It won a literary award in 2017 and hit Amazon's Top 30 Thrillers in the same year. Original notes by Irvin Kershner and more recent ones from a Chairman of Bafta. The book is multilayered and it's very hard teasing out the core. Many Darlings are being killed and it's driving me nuts !

Juhani Nurmi

Hey guys. Hustling virtually 24/7. It's been an unusually long, hot and humid summer here in Finland. Have two established directors and a premier special VFX company attached to my projects. Hoping to start on 1-2 new scripts in the coming weeks. Keeping my "Paddington Bear hard stare" on the lookout for a manager or an entertainment attorney (because quite honestly all this heavy lifting can occasionally feel a bit overwhelming) but despite a referral from a multi Oscar-winning pro, I'm not succeeding. Not yet. But it ain't over, as they say, until the fat lady sings. May I kindly remind you all that if I can fight the odds by pushing against a barrage of age and nationality bias from the execs all the way from the other side of the world, so can you. Just keep on writing. Remember that a writer writes ... always.

Clayton Dudzic

Just completed a first draft of a Drama/Thriller spec. Taking a week from it before starting the rewrite. The journey through out the story has become something I can't wait to return to.

Craig D Griffiths

Another years old post. Why not. I am doing a weekly youtube post about screenwriting. Keeps my mind active and I am a writing nerd. When I am not writing I like talking about writing.

Matthew Parvin

Well, I just finished two rewrites of previous screenplays. I'm also beginning a new script today that I've been outlining for the past two weeks, so I think I'm ready to jump in.
