We're all living longer so I figure the age by which you have to have accomplished X should be moving forward as well! Stephanie Palmer had a client who sold his first script in his 60's.
Cathy Trope Stephanie Palmer's book, "Good in a Room" is awesome if you haven't read it. There's some great insight in there.
While ageism does (unfortunately) exist in the industry, I do think it is not as bad as it was (for certain disciplines). I had lunch with a working screenwriter a while ago and one of my favorite take aways was his comment on marketing yourself. To paraphrase he said, "No one cares who you are. They only care that you have something they can buy/sell."
I still have my moments of, "If I knew then, what I know now," but I also acknowledge that it took that long to get to "now" so... we can only keep going.
