My supernatural thriller, THE DRESS, was nominated for “Best Screenplay”. Walked away without the win, but REALLY enjoyed my time watching stellar films and attending top-notch panel discussions. BRAVO, BHFF!!
GREAT fest, Karen & Phil! I actually stayed at the Roosevelt, so seeing the films, attending panels, and waltzing into the ballroom for awards night was such a breeze! : )
The Roosevelt is wonderful. Love dinner at Public. Easy walking around. Nino and crew are wonderful. We'll be back next year with bells on. I have a script in progress especially for them.
Best of luck with the new script, Phil. Did you just attend this year, or did you have a screenplay in the running? The Roosevelt was the BEST. Quite pricey, but well worth it when you consider location. I had a great view of the Hollywood Walk of Fame right across the street.
Charlie’s lunch? My guess is acid rain. He didn’t look well. The funniest thing I discovered during my trip is how the movie stars and Oscar Nominees must travel up the red carpeted stairs of an outdoor MALL in order to get to the Kodak Theater. Closeups and quick camera cutaways allow for a nice cover up. I mean, can you just picture Streep and Costner stopping into a “Subway” sandwich shop on their way up the steps? Hilarious.
Interesting speculation, Bill. I look forward to running into you at a fest soon. I suspect that at a festival happy hour we could solve many world problems.
Agreed, Dan! Acceptance & recognition is Talent + Luck + Determination. It’s been an interesting year. I had another thriller, “dream HOLLYWOOD”, accepted as a 2019 Finalist in the Pasadena International Film Festival and had to choose which fest to attend. Nice to be wanted once in a while! : )

I had a script in the running this past year. In 2014 I was First-Runner Up. Didn't attend this year and really missed it.
WOW, man! Bravo on the First-Runner Up! THAT’S a sweet victory! Nicely done!
I DID actually dress up for the event. The other pic was taken in my DAY Hollywood Street Threads! ; )
Promotional material for “The Dress”.

And a mere few blocks from where the Oscars do take place. What did Charlie have for lunch?
