Hi Writers!
I guess this is my big foray into the written word. I'm kind of new to all this. I've posted my first logline and would be thankful for any thoughts or critiques. I'm about 83 pages in on what will be my first ever finished feature film script which the logline describes.
Thank you and happy productivity to you all!

Congratulations on getting this far. Now press on and finish. (The hardest part, IMHO.) I'll check out your logline. I will tell you this, (again, IMHO) it's rare for a first (or even second, third, or fourth) script to have the polish it takes to make an impact. Trust that writing, rewriting, and writing and rewriting more is a huge part of the journey, and don't get discouraged if your first few are not well received. Pay close attention to the critiques, own the shortcomings, and learn from the mistakes and the experience. Always be grateful to those willing to read your material, and hear what they tell you. You may not always have to agree, but you owe it to yourself to hear what they are saying.

Luke, I liked your logline. It was solid and painted the picture for me. I'm still pretty new to this, so you'll want other opinions, but I like what I saw. Best of luck to you.

My pleasure. Your stories are the only ones you can write, and you write the stories only you can tell. The main things you need are passion, commitment, humility, and a willingness to learn. You're very fortunate because there are volumes written on the subject and thousands of hours of video available to you. The internet is an amazing resource for screenwriters. (Just make sure you have a purpose for it and don't get distracted from writing because of it. For example, I am procrastinating right now. I should be working on my outline...lol).
You can Google questions and study the answers on dozens of subjects like, How to develop characters? What is need -vs-want? How do I format a screenplay? What is the best beat template? How to write a great opening scene/fight scene/love scene. How to develop character flaws? Character arcs. Keys to a good antagonist. Secrets to great dialog. And so on and so forth. You can search for and download screenplays. (Read a lot of them.) Find locations, set, and wardrobe imagery, and on and on. Take advantage. Study. Learn. and write, write, write. Eventually, you'll turn out something really good. All the best!

Thanks Thom Reese! I'm taking all opinions! I've had problems finding writers to talk with in the past so I'm really enjoying this.

Good luck. Remember, you just got to keep at it and you'll get better and better.
Thanks Bill Albert that is my plan.
