Right idea, but I think a sizzle reel, with a very specific purpose, like pitching to producers or financiers, would be a better bet. It's not clear who this is being pitched to?
The OP didn't really say only that hes made a pitch deck. Am I right in thinking you'd use this in the later stages after an initial pitch has been successful?
I don't really see what the purpose of this deck is - if you pitch a script to a producer, there's a very specify set of elements that you include. If the producer likes what they hear, they request the script and after that, it proceeds to a meeting.
My producer has recently requested several pitch decks that he has sent to several productions companies. The can have several uses beyond just pitching the story idea. This includes differentiation strategy, who your audience is and why an investor/production company should consider making your script into a film/television show.
If you want to know everything there is know about Pitch Decks, purchase Ewan Dunbar's "How to Create a TV Series Pitch Deck for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Other Streamers – with Example Pitch Decks & Guideline Sheet" webinar--it is one of the best webinar's I've taken through Stage 32!
Pitch decks are like a power point presentation for your script. Mostly used when you do a long form pitch from production company to production company.
My guess is that current situation may help to make them something that you can use to send to companies.
I have a short chapter on them in my Loglines Blue Book.
I did one, just because I took the webinar with Ewan Dunbar and it seemed like a good idea to have one. Shorter than the bible I have for the same pilot. Experience and knowledge is all I really wanted, but I got 'em.

supposedly, writer-director RIan Johnson made a 90-second pitch deck/sizzle reel for "Looper". This was way back in 2010-2011.

I just watched the Chasing the Dead pitch deck and... Not bad. I put music in one of mine, which I loved and my rep had me pull out.

"Screenwriting quicksand" - it definitely is everywhere. Some "producers" have taken to trying to push the cost of pitch decks on to writers.
