Hey everyone! I hope that everyone had a productive week/good Friday so far. With the film industry and productions being legally allowed to re-open and work again in a lot of areas (California, etc.) starting today (June 12), a lot of my friends and myself have been discussing our thoughts on it (health+safety, etc.) and what we're doing right now to prepare for work and projects to flow back into our lives again. I've worked on a couple projects (feature film pick-ups+Netflix documentary: very bare bones skeleton crew) in the past few weeks and I feel that the industry re-opening is a good thing (economically), but not in a health perspective (if productions require a lot of crew members, closed buildings/no air ventilation, etc.). I honestly feel that the 2nd wave is going to occur at earliest in July-August, so having productions re-open again is a concern in spite of having good safety guidelines (masks, etc.). On what we're going to do about the industry re-opening again, what actions are you going to take (at home/outside/etc.) to re-charge your goals and book the projects that you want in your life again? For myself, I'll be networking online/in person if it's very small (in-person events in closed buildings/crowded areas I'm still skeptical about), contacting my colleagues/friends about possible work happening in the near future, updating my online portfolio, etc. Let's make things happen!
did you sign a liability waiver?
Maurice Vaughan Good that you're working on something and changing some things/adapt for the actors and safety.

I wish I could say the second wave was going to wait for July, but I think it might get here sooner:

Also, I'll be going on more hikes and nature walks, taking pictures - it'll feel like a location scout!
Karen "Kay" Ross Yeah, after seeing articles in the past couple days, the 2nd wave will definitely happen sooner. I want to see "Tenet" so bad that it's killing me. Hike and nature walks can definitely feel like locations scouts! Highly recommend Elysian Park Trail, very lowkey and easy hike with some small hills in between.

I think Damian is right. For the movie industy the same rules/thought apply as for the industy in general. Right now that is more and more -- get things going again, whatever the costs. At least, if you do not want America becoming a 'third world' country and the movie industy moving to Hollandwood. For God Sake, please no!
Great viewpoints. I've changed a lot of perspective in the past couple weeks since I posted this, due to the huge increase in cases. Health is getting worse in general yet the economy is getting back on its feet, a bad and good thing that's not mixing well.
