I've been trying to do Nano and Milwordy but feel like I'm in a funk. What ways do you get yourself out of a funk (ADHD-friendly advice would be really appreciated)
*omg, my phone had auto-corrected ADHD to Asha, these devices need to be educated on mental health lol

Hi, Tanatswa! Congratulations on your NaNo and Milwordy ventures! I definitely know how you feel and getting yourself out of a funk can be a tricky thing. Though I don't have experience with ADHD, I hope sharing some of my methods can be helpful! I find that centering myself and getting into a flow state of mind helps me focus. It can be different from person to person. For me, I find it beneficial to quiet my mind first: changing the scent of the environment by lighting a candle or incense, a bubble bath with lavender, or sitting outside for fresh air, sometimes with a cup of hot tea or coffee (don't forget to look up at the sky!). Then, when I want to get in the flow of writing, I put in my ear pods with music for the energy I want to channel. If the music is too loud or distracting at the time, I would skip that. This is just what I do, but I hope this helps spark some ideas! Happy writing!

Finished NaNo on the 22nd at 51K words. The story itself still has 30K to go. I'm a novelist by trade though. My goal every year is to finish before Turkey Day.

I was in a funk just last month trying to get a video gamer script going. I know nothing about video games. I guess the funk was because I was trying to write about something I had not experienced. Switched gears some and made the video game only a minor part of the story. Out of the funk, at least.
Thanks for the advice. I literally learned yesterday that caffeine actually helps ADHDers concentrate and calm down lol so I'll definitely be bringing on green tea and coffee. Writing about something I've experienced
I’ve reached NaNo goal, phew! It was my first ever NaNoWriMo and I found it very useful. The main thing: I became disciplined and established “write every damn day” habit. For a hectic person like me this is a big step :)
Also, while I was writing the first draft, I flashed out two outlines for next projects.
PS: December is an editing month. And I already feel the torture )))
Never done Nano. But I get in funks too. Best thing to do is just press on. One line at a time. One scene at a time. Sometimes if I just start writing, it takes off, even if I don't feel like it. Good luck to you!
