Screenwriting is an art for the creatives. You need to be consciously aware of what you want your audience to know and what you want to bring out as a writer.
Picasso was notorious for paying his bills with sketches. Once he was confronted about it. "That only took you 30 seconds." He replied, "No, that took me 30years." (paraphrased) All art is grounded in craft. Dali started by learning impressionism, was terrible at it, and from that grounding in craft he developed Surrealism. Step one: craft, Step two: inspiration, Step three: others appreciating what you do.
Screenwriting is hard work - it's up to other people to decide if the output is art.

but its only the creatives who can see that side of the output.

Damn right, Paul Mbigua. More screenwriters need to think like this.
Tired of people retorting with "but it's show BUSINESS" when the first word in that term is SHOW.
