The comics were amazing. I still have the original first print series in my storage. Not sure about the show yet.... It's a lot to live up to.
I don't think I realized they were based on comics, although that makes sense. Are they all together or in separate series?
7.12.2021 Hey Karen, as a genre they're all Comic Born. They were the products of STan Lee, who in 1941 created his first super hero named, "The Destroyer." 1960's he took off with his and Jack Kirby's co-creation of, "The Fantastic Four Comics" and then onto developing Spider Man, The Hulk, Thor, the X-Men, Avengers and more... He was truly THEE GODFATHER OF COMICS and SUPER HEROES! ! ! We owe THAT UNIVERSE to him. The rest is History. :--)) And a damned good one at that I'd say. LOVE ALL of them. I was fortunate to grow up in the Magical 60's. Those Comics were a part of my life growing up. The Ghost Rider was my particular favorite which debuted in the "Marvel Spotlight issue #5 (Aug. 1972), created by Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas, writer Gary Friedrich and artist Mike Ploog" Awesome.... totally awesome. Johnny Blaze ROCKED! :--)) Nick Cage did a great job playing the part in the films. Wish they'd make more. Anywho... there you have it Ms Ross! Have a great Monday!
Kindly always,
Nicholas In Seattle Cheers! And Ciao!

Yes, Nicholas In Seattle I knew they were ALL from comics, and I'm quite familiar with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. I just wasn't aware as to whether or not the "WHAT IF" series was born from a particular comic book also entitled "WHAT IF" or several different comics that the MCU decided to compile and rename.

You can see the series here:

NOT to be confused with the 1988-93 Marvel series, What The--!"?, which I personally enjoyed more!

The design looks good, and what stories they’ve teased are promising.

The next question may have a LOKI SPOILER:
You've been warned...
I wonder if the end of the LOKI series will connect to the "What If" Series? Will it play to like the Animatrix where it's just from the bible of the world, but they allow the directors to go "off book" to explore theories?
