Hi! Just call me Dave. I work under the writerly name of David J. Rank, and I work in the dark arts--I mean, dark fiction. Horror, mostly, but science fiction and fantasy as well. I don't do screenplays, but I find Stage 32 a wealth of information on writing in general, storytelling, and advice I can adapt to prose on paper.
Back in 2014, I founded the Novel-In-Progress Bookcamp & Writing Retreat, two concurrent, week-long residential programs. The Bookcamp is a workshop with instructors, classes, guest speakers, while the Retreat is for writers looking for six days of personal writing time with opportunities to socialize with fellow authors and publishing pros. We're based in southeast Wisconsin.
More than 30 of my stories have been published online or in anthologies, many of them the flash or micro variety. Currently, I'm working on a horror novel, a historical romance, and circulating a science fiction mystery that's generated a few nibbles from agents and publishers, but no takers yet.

Hi David! I'd love to hear more about your stories. I read a different novel every week. Sometimes I get two in if time permits. :)

Chaun, thanks for the interest. My SF novel is a noir mystery set in 2155. Darcy Salazar is hired to find an alien's stolen husbands that lead Darcy into an intergalactic conspiracy and a serial killer who collects heads. The Horror novel tells the tale of nomadic teenage Bethany Lonergan and her father Angus who is turning into an uncontrollable werewolf. The Historical Romance, set in the 1880s, has wealthy and reclusive Kathleen Tully hiring gambler Carter Madsen as a companion. Oh, and Kathleen wears a mask to hide a disfigurement.
Both of those sound interesting. I'm a SF lover. Have you considered adapting any of your novels for the screen?
I'd love to see them published and on screen. I guess that is every writer's daydream.
Sounds like these stories have loads of potential! c:
