Accidental Imitations

Don't you just hate it when you write an entire script only to discover a similar plot is in the works or has already been produced?

What's a Story that you've had to alter or rewrite or scrap your script over?

Maurice Vaughan

A story about an invisible enemy in a house. The movie that came out was "The Invisible Man."

Gaby Chartier

I’ve discovered my plot was annoyingly similar to a tv show that aired in the early 2000s, a friend let me know after coming across it online. I was very attached, so I simply rewrote a few things to make it distinguishable. But It did make me doubt my abilities, after all, no one likes to be told their ideas aren’t original.

WL Wright

I have the weird reality lately of writing features and then when I am close to done or done, multiple requests for that kind of story comes up. I'm going with it and writing on.

Kiril Maksimoski

The script I did coverage on, had an oracle meet Neo scene from Matrix pasted into one of it's own scenes...and I mean copy/pasted right on down to dialogues...didn't mind it, funds are up, script's about to be filmed...

It's a copy/paste world dudes...do your best...

Craig D Griffiths

No. I got to spend some time writing. Which is never wasted. Plus there are no original ideas.

What makes you think yours is so similar it could never be made? Even if it is exactly the same it can be made. How many movies did we have about the White House being attacked?

Plus if you sold yours today it would probably still be a few years away. So they are never going to be in the market at the same

time.

Dan MaxXx

Nope, cause all my concepts are stolen from movies & books I like.

Jacob Whitley

All the time. I just write what excites me and ignore exterior influences like that. In the end, I always think my content is better, so I don't let it bother me.
