Hi everyone! Such an amazing idea to have this space. I left the industry years ago because I felt discouraged as all the people getting jobs were relatives of directors/actors etc (I was much younger then) while I saw a lot of talent being wasted. Moving forward to now, I am seeing a fresh outlook I have been encourage by a screenwriter friend to bring my stories back as she thinks the timing is right. How are you guys feeling about the industry now? Happy New Year!

I think you need to define "the industry". I'm enthusiastic about some parts, ambivalent about some parts and really annoyed about some parts.

Thanks so much, Queila Doyle, we quite like the community as well ;-) It kinda depends on what aspect of the industry you're referring to - development is different than production, post-production, or distribution. In terms of screenwriting, it's never been a better time to write and get your story made. Have you seen the webinar with Chris Mack from Netflix? He mentions that the limited series is a great way to finance unique stories, and he's not the only one saying it.
If you venture into industry to find a job - job you'll get...with all the mobbing, injustice and finger-points you can handle...that's what it is....bottom line; writing for money is just another hustle like making burgers for money....pays well maybe, but in accordance to level...
