Tap-Dancing Musical in 2022?

I just watched "Singin in the Rain" for the first time last night. It got me thinking about those old 50's tap-dancing musicals. So, I came up with a film idea about a high schooler who loves those types of musicals, and it's his dream to be in one.

He goes to his school with the idea of making a tap-dancing musical and is shot down because they believe no one would want to see it. This only drives TDP (Tap-Dancing Protagonist) farther to prove them wrong, but he's going to need help. With the help of his theater-raised parents and friends, TDP dances and sings his way to making a musical and living out his dream.

I also thought it would be funny if TDP had an imaginary friend of Donald O' Conner or Gene Kelly who would give him advice and dance with him. I also like the idea of just randomly for no reason; the minute it starts raining, TDP would go outside to reenact Singin in the Rain.

It's a silly and charming idea that I came up with on a whim, but I don't know if anyone would be interested in a movie like that.

The idea of an advisor in the form of past masters of dance is cool. Also sounds high budget due to action scenes with crowds. The Film titled “School of Rock” 2003 is obviously not “Vintage” dance yet it’s a stand alone successful execution of performance art. Don’t lock your idea early doors and read all scripts related to this particular genre aswell as many free blogs/courses.
