I am the Indie author of the Jeannie Loomis thriller novels. Recently I began writing screenplays for a few of "her" novels (book adaptation) and was requested by a production company to send the script. Very exciting but won't hold my breath. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's posts.

Welcome, Gary Rose. Glad you're in the community. Thriller's one of my favorite genres to write and watch. I'm thinking of reading some Thriller books, so I'll keep your books in mind. How was the book-to-script process for you?

I had a mentor who just completed a script for Tom Hanks. The main problem I had, and anticipated, was the difference between the two styles of writing (novel vs. script). I found that Final Draft 12 did most of the formatting for me, so it was just making the decision of what parts of the book I felt were needed to keep it somewhat true to the plot, yet in vision what I needed to hook the audience in a cinema. This meant moving my protagonist up further re. introduction.

My Jolt Survival Series for which I have written nine hour long scripts is based on my award winning Jolt Survival Trilogy novels, the pilot for which is on my wall. Would love your take on it.

Actually, that is not a bad idea. Fortunately for me, I have 10 completed novels (Jeannie Loomis thriller novels) that I am adapting so I don't have to deal with the author of the book to obtain their rights. How are you doing it, if you don't mind I ask.

Hey, I just saw that you live in Arnold, CA. I "escaped" wacko California and resettle here in the South and love it. I had a financial planning client back in the day, who lived in Arnold. Nice there. How are the fires?

Welcome, Gary! Nice to meet you. Glad you're here.
Sounds like adapting your book went kinda smooth, Gary Rose. Aside from the difference between the two styles of writing (novel and script). Final Draft 12 has a template for almost everything. Haha Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors. Probably in my top five.

Congrats Gary Rose! I know you don't want to get ahead of yourself, but even connecting with a company on this adaptation is a huge feat, way to go!

Thanks, Emily. That's what everyone tells me. It has been eight days now and I have not heard anything, but actually, I am enjoying my own book adaptations taking a break from novel writing.
Thanks, again. Gary

Dan; it's amazing that even at our ages, we still learn a little eh? We're surrounded by a bunch of little fires up here but nothing threatening.

Hey Gary Rose having a request to send your script is a huge achievement. I have a book to movie project underway and it’s a long, rollercoaster process, but fun. Anyway, my name is David and I’m part of the LOUNGE CREW team! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Keep going!
