The short answer is having a quality and marketable script.
The first step could be assessing if the script is ready for industry eyes. That means reads by professionals, not peers, who highlight any strengths or weaknesses. It's ready once there's a sort of universal acclaim. Then the real work begins.2 people like this
Hey, Mark Erzuah Siam. I agree with E Langley. I also suggest building relationships/networking on here. That could lead to opportunities to sell your script.
I suggest adding more to your bio. A detailed bio will help you build relationships/network. You could add things to your bio like the genres you write and your goals.
You can also post your script in the Logline Section of your profile for producers, directors, etc. to see.

Dan Guardino oooh that last line was so good! I don't think I ever told a US company where I'm from, but I will remember that!

I highly recommend paying for professional coverage. Stage32 offers good coverage service and so does the Screenplay Gurus. I'm sure there are other good ones out there, but those are the ones I prefer. Keep in mind that reading notes on your first script will be painful at times, but most of the feedback will need to be addressed. I paid for coverage 8 times before my first script was ready to market.

Thank you, Sam. DARKHORSE is a fine script. A pleasure to read.

Hi Mark, if you're interested in any of our Script Services, they are the most direct and effective way we have at Stage 32 to get your script in front of executives. You can check all of them out here: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices?affid=mwp

My home ground (The Balkans) it's practically impossible...nobody sells scripts here...99% of the writers are directors and they apply for state funds...as for the U.S. I've heard some war stories of nobodies making it...after writing approx. 100 specs or so (case of M. Tomlin)...this other Twitter guy I heard rumors made it with "Air" now being directed by Affleck and starring Damon...however I bet 100K this ain't his first script....as for Africa, next best thing is Nigeria (in case Ghana's movie scene is down)...always try locally, at least continent-wise...if u got what it takes, Hollywood radar will zero u out eventually...
