Screenwriting : I just did a thing that stretched me out of my screenwriting comfort blanket. by Debbie Elicksen

Debbie Elicksen

I just did a thing that stretched me out of my screenwriting comfort blanket.

As a writer, I have decades of experience, published internationally in sports, copywriting, and the works. I've livestreamed. I've done television interviews, radio interviews, and even did color for a football broadcast a couple of times.

What I am terrified of and am slowly inching out of my shell is venturing into screenwriting. It's a HUGE boundary stretch for me. Writing fiction is a stretch.

I was pleasantly surprised (because I totally forgot) to discover (sigh) typewritten short stories I wrote two and three decades ago. There was also a (typewritten) book in storage. Actually, two -- the other one was a 400-page dictionary of football terms to which a lot of it is obsolete.

The one book, Black Ice, started as a non-fiction. I had an agent that loved it and a couple of publishers loved it. However, they were too terrified to accept it. So, it sat on my shelf for years. I finally dusted it off and finished it as a fiction book a couple of years ago.

Anyway, my next stretch right here on Stage 32 is that I posted (count them) THREE loglines in my profile. I've been sitting on those for at least a year and a half, knowing full well I could post them here but was too scared.

Thank you Stage 32 for helping me grow.

Thank you for sharing Debbie!

Richard "RB" Botto

If there's one thing I know about you, Debbie, is that you're going to step outside your comfort zone and go after it. You lead by example and I, for one, appreciate it.

Also very grateful for the kind words!

Thanks Richard "RB" Botto. None of this would have happened without you. I don't know whether to thank you or curse you. lol.
