Alec Sokolow

Excited to share my insights and (what passes for) wisdom on all things feature animation writing. Spoiler alert... It all starts and ends with character and perspective that can only be realized with animation! See you then.

Leonardo Ramirez

Sounds like a great class!

Sav Akyuz

Joining late night from London and really looking forward to this one!

Mary And Rich Chamberlin

Can't wait for tomorrow! We're Mary and Rich Chamberlin from Naperville, IL USA.

Rebs Just-Rebs

Brilliant session thanks! did I miss the bit about ◦ "Animated Film conventions and how to make them work for you"?

Mary And Rich Chamberlin

Hi Rebs, glad you're here! He did touch lightly on archetypes. Some conventions we found online include forced romance, comedic sidekicks, a villain restrained by censorship, and predictable morals. He mentioned in Toy Story he wrote Woody and Buzz as life-experienced adults with let-down challenges, which made for lots of depth. Also how Pixar follows a deeper convention while Fox is much lighter.

Rebs Just-Rebs

Thanks Mary and Rich.... my literal mind, was thinking of physical conventions..i.e live events and expos. I'm sales obsessed as it's my biggest weakness..but I'm determined to be better at it. Thankyou! x

Peter Evan Smith

Thanks, Alec, for putting this series together. Excited to move my writing forward.

Been loving the class!

So glad to hear everyone is enjoying the class!

Today was outstanding, our own hero's journey. Love "how do you get the hero across the bridge, and who is least likely to help do so." We also love Walter's great input (and his adorable son!)

Marla Rausch

Was so happy I was able to attend the class today. Just great!

Rebs Just-Rebs

Thank you Alec for dropping all the 'structure 'gold' with us (again). Thank you all for making this course, such a lovely warm room to be in. Shout out to Walter for sharing the business insight and the glorious 'Walter and Son' moments. (Walter - You know your baby has innate comedy timing don't you? I would definitely go and watch 'Walter & Son'. I digress. I put one of my key take aways in the attached pic. I'm off to roll up my sleeves and upgrade my scripts.
