Many directors throughout the history of cinema have caused astonishment and progress in cinema. For example, if I were to mention some names like Mr. Charlie Chaplin, Spielberg, Jean-Luc Godard, Kurosawa, Woody Allen, David Lynch, Fincher, Inarritu, and... But in my opinion, they are just good directors. In my top 10 list of the greatest filmmakers in cinema history, I have chosen 10 top filmmakers in cinema history up to now. Perhaps this is because they were my inspiration in the filmmaking profession.

Robert Altman and Pedro Almodovar are two of my favorites along with Spielberg, Inarritu and the Coen brothers.

I would not make such a list without Frank Capra and Steven Spielberg. Also Ernst Lubitsch was another GREAT!

Really strong list. I personally can't make lists like this, because I will inevitably end up spending hours moving people up and down in the rankings, worried I'm leaving someone important out or that, etc. Now I just think about these things in tiers: "the greats", "the really good", "the good", etc.

All incredible filmmakers indeed and maybe I’m a purist but Orson Welles, Fred Zinnemann and John Ford deserve consideration or at least debate.

I'd look at John Ford, Howard Hawks, Renoir, for pioneers and Coppola, and two of my favorites Tony and Ridley Scott, very good list by the way.

E uma lista de peso, parabéns. Vejo que os que ficaram de fora também reforçam a lista. Não podemos esquecer de Clinton Eastwood Jr, Pedro Almodovar e outros mais. Que bom SARRAEI ver que esses diretores são um guia para você. Isso reforça que o cinema continua num caminho para não perder a excelência a exuberância de sua ARTE.
Eu confesso que não me arriscaria em fazer uma lista, mas é sempre bom ver uma. Saindo do eixo de Hollywood na Europa também vi que tem gente boa lá, como no caso do francês JEAN LUC GOTARD e outros. Bom, em fim parabéns novamente e só ver KUBRIK E HITCHCOCK na ponta da lista, não precisamos prolongangar muito !!!!

Like the list, but Tarantino isn't anywhere near mine, nor is Chrs Nolan. Kurosawa, and Spielberg must be added and Coppola moved way up the list.
