Who is planning to attend Cinegear LA, June 1st-4th? Is there anything or anyone in particular that you're excited to see?
I believe you can still register as an attendee for free directly on their site.

I won't be in town, it's a bummer really.

Yes absolutely, unless a job pops up. It'll be back on the Paramount lot which is a fabulous setting for this event. Lots to look forward to, especially running into friends and colleagues. And the parties of course.

Sam Mannetti, I won't be attending this year, but I'm hoping to next year. My husband will be there for all 4 days though! He's excited that it's back on the Paramount lot this year.

Looking forward to Cinegear back at Paramount. Hopefully it will be a reasonably close resemblance to what it used to be, not the showing the last couple of years. Nice too that it is largely outside. Over a dozen friends and acquaintances came back from NAB with CoVid. Be cautious, the virus doesn't seem to care about wishful thinking..

Has a little reminder when I drove past Paramount this morning. Hadn't considered this but II wonder if there will be picket lines during Cinegear?

I've overheard a few people wondering the same thing. I haven't heard anything definitive, but it's definitely a possibility.

Am still looking forward to Cinegear but I will not cross a picket line.

The WGA is currently involved with a labor dispute against the AMPTP. While Paramount Studios is a member of the AMPTP and owns the venue where the event is being held, attendees of Cinegear are not doing covered work (scripted television).
WGA has no contract with CineGear as an entity. Attendance can happen through the neutral gate.
Paramount is in the AMPTP. If the WGA is picketing, entering Paramount studios lot is crossing a picket line. Whether by the front door a, a back door or a double-nought spy-guy cloak & dagger super-duper top-secret entrance, it is still crossing a picket line. Only possibility will be if the WGA says it is ok to attend, and that seems highly unlikely.
The choice of attending is up to the ethics of each individual

It's a trade show and independent convention where people meet each other and vendors. There's no reason to think it would be an issue to attend. Regardless, last week the WGAW Assistant Executive Director stated that “the WGA has no policy or statement specific to Cine Gear."

Thank you for that clarity, Gareth Taylor! That's very helpful.
