Can't say that I have become emotional while writing a scene, Nikki April Lee, but in imagining a scene I have. So much so that it delayed me in writing out the scene by a couple weeks because I couldn't bring myself to put on paper.
I've had this happen later when reading through my script after a break. In my day job of producing videos I know that when this happens the audience is going to be affected.
Yes! I wrote a scene where my main character gets punched in the face by his wife... I can picture the look on his face poor lad! Also the scene where she assaults him was horrible when I read it over, I felt so mean for writing it!
My main character's best friend was brutally murdered in a scene. It was so sudden and shocking even though she wasn't there she felt it deep inside. So did I.
Tears and crying are my signal to myself that I reached something worthwhile. It doesn't have to be about me, just honesty in general. Emotions communicate barriers to the ego. If you can get through it, you achieved something.

I feel sad or despair. But never enough for physical manifestations.

I have, Nikki April Lee. I've felt angry, embarrassed, etc. while writing scenes.

Absolutely. Am writing a film about coercive control and the abusive scenes make me cry.

I kinda feel if you don't get emotional writing your story or expressing yourself in ways that mean something then I wouldn't want to read it. lol
