Anything Goes : Is this a common occurrance here? What's the deal? by Pamela S K Glasner

Is this a common occurrance here? What's the deal?

So far, two “producers” on this platform have feigned interest in a project of mine, only to try and scam me for $3000. They both approached me, not the other way around. And then they said this:

“Here is how i work, I charge a collaboration fee of $3000. a one time payment ( negotiable and refundable). Submit your script to my email. After the evaluation of your script then we will sign an NDA before you can make the payment of the fee. thank you.”

When I say they both offered the same thing, I mean DOWN TO THE LETTER, going so far as to not capitalize the “i” in the first sentence, then the “a” at the beginning of the 2nd sentence, and the “t” at the beginning of “thank you.” In fact, there’s an added space in between the “open parentheses” and the word “negotiable.” It’s like they’re both working from the same script.

Should they be flagged? Should the execs at Stage 32 be made aware of this? Or is this a common thing here on this platform: vultures who are trying to weasel 4 figures out of someone who may be a total newbie (I’m a newbie here on Stage 32, but I sure wasn’t born yesterday!) and may be desperate to get their work produced?

Your reactions and comments would be quite welcome. Thanks!

This should definitely be flagged and brought to the attention of ST 32. This is a recent trend in the industry -- I would love to know the service/users -- I have a catalogue of scammers and nefarious practices.

Then I will definitely flag them and bring it to the attention of the execs. I wonder if I should post the scammers' names here? What do you think?

Whitney Moore

Definitely flag them. You'll probably find their IP addresses coming from a certain country filled with a lot of princes who like to contact people through e-mail if you know what I mean.

Just so everyone knows, one of them is Rebecca O Brien. The link to her page here on Stage 32 is https://www.stage32.com/profile/1094456/about . The other WAS David Alexanian but I see that his account has already been suspended.

Rebecca O Brien's profile was deleted, Pamela S K Glasner. Definitely report any scammers to Stage 32 (support@stage32.com).

I just got the following from Stage 32:

Hi Pamela,

Thanks very much for reaching out and for bringing forth to our attention. Happy to help. I've looked up Rebecca O'Brien's profile and it has now also been taken down and flagged.

Have a great day and take care.

Lisa
